A protected site may need airspace detection, perimeter sensors and RF observations. An inspection mission may call for a ground robot and an aerial viewpoint. Modularity gives the programme a way to develop those combinations without requiring every system in every deployment.
The same approach applies inside each platform: sensing, compute, communications and power have defined responsibilities and interfaces.
